Help
Execution - StashCan

Now we're at the heart of TheStashCan. This is where you "fondle" your Stash, edit it, add to it, mark things to be on your "wish list". This is TheStashCan!

TIP:

  1. When you edit an item and the pulldown boxes become "active" (meaning you can select from them) - rather than use the mouse to "drag the list up and down", simply type the first letter or 2 of what it is you're looking for and the box will automatically "jump" to the closest match. For example, if you tabbed to Style and rather than use the mouse just type the letter "B" - the list would "jump" to the first "B" item, type "B" again and it goes to the next one and so on. The more letters you type the closer the "hit". Does that make sense? Also, within the pull-down lists you can use your up and down arrow keys to move through the items as well!

The pulldown boxes work just like all the other buttons in the system (on the buttons the letter that is underlined can be typed and that's the same thing as clicking the mouse). Type letters and they jump. Try it! I think that will make up for the little scrolly thingy not working and make data entry faster too!

First let's review what the buttons on the bottom of the screen do.

  • Top - click and you'll go to the virtual top of your list; the first item in your file
  • Next - click to move to the next item in your list
  • Previous - click to back up to the previous item in your list
  • Bottom - click and you'll go to the virtual bottom of your list; the last item in your file
  • Find - click to search your list for a specific item *
  • View Piccie - click to view the jpg picture file associated with the stash-ed item **
  • Add - click to add a new item to your list
  • Edit - click to edit the current item (For Example: change the spelling)
  • Delete - click to delete the current item ***
  • Fabbie Calc - click to do a quick calculation on the fabric size required for a particular design stitch count ****
  • Exit - click to exit the current maintenance screen

* The Find button invokes a new "option" screen to let you select how you want to search your StashCan.

You must select the method by which you wish to search your Stash. Depending on what method you choose, you will be presented with one of the following screens.

Search by Type
Simply use the pull down box to select one of your pre-defined, personalized, Types.

Search by Style
Simply use the pull down box to select one of your pre-defined, personalized, Styles.

Search by Publisher
Simply use the pull down box to select one of your pre-defined, personalized, Publishers.

Search by Publisher
Simply use the pull down box to select one of your pre-defined, personalized, Designers.

Search by Item Name or Item Number

Once you provide the system a value to search for, your StashCan will "jump" to the nearest item that matches your search criteria. Additionally, it will "re-sort" your items based on your search criteria. For example, let's say you searched by Designer and you selected Teresa Wentzler; TheStashCan would "re-sort" ALL OF YOUR STASH by designer - jump to Teresa Wentzler and then you could 'n' - ext, 'n' - ext, 'n' - ext, through all of Teresa's designs alphabetically!!! Woo hoo! So easy to find stuff!

Another great thing TheStashCan does ... if you ADD a new item and the publisher, designer, item name and number are the same as something already in TheStashCan - NO MATTER WHAT TYPE OR STYLE! - TheStashCan will tell you that item already exists and ask you if you want to add it anyway! From there you can add it anyway or cancel the add and go on to something else, assured that you already entered that item!

** The View Piccie button invokes a pop-up window to let you view the image associate with your stash-ed item.

You scan take digital pictures or scan in images of your work or stash and associate the resulting jpg image to your stash-ed item.

*** The Delete button on your Stash Maint screen will simply delete the current item ONLY.

**** The Fabbie Calc button invokes a pop-up window to let you quickly calculate the required fabric size for a particular design. Calculation is based on design stich count, desired "Waste" border, over 1 or over 2 stitching style, and fabric count. The Fabbie Calculator calculates rounded to the 1/2 inch.

Please note: If you want to "unmark" whether you have, want, are selling, or have sold an item, simply edit that item and change the quantity to be 0. Once you save the item, the Status radio buttons button will become "unmarked".

Well, that's TheStashCan's "heart". Finally, you can keep track of exactly what you've got, what you want, and how much of you've got! Enjoy it!
